Storage

Storage: iSCSI and Fiber Channel

Storage iSCI and Fiber ChannelBecause work environments vary, storage systems that fit well in one virtual server setup may not in another. Our infrastructure experts can help you make choices that work for you, including choosing between iSCSI and Fibre Channel.

Although Fibre Channel is known for its reliability and performance, it costs more because it requires special purpose cabling, host bus adapters and switches, and a staff trained in Fibre Channel SAN administration.

iSCSI costs less, primarily because it uses standard Ethernet components and does not require special training. It can also be deployed more quickly. But it is usually deployed as a software protocol, which adds CPU overhead.

VDI’s engineers will help you choose and install the appropriate storage for your particular virtual server system.
